Elephant necklace

Just yesterday my mom bought me some charms and beads from Walmart. She even got me some very cute elephant charms! I quickly opened the charms and got to work on a necklace. I decided to hang three charms off of a silver chain from different places. I was trying to model my necklace off of one I saw at a clothes store. The first time I tried the necklace sat weird so I took the charms off and tried again. I ended up hanging one from the center of the chain and two others from different places on the sides. Its really cute and think I will be wearing this one myself especially since elephants are my favorite animal.

More than a week in

So I am more than a week into my jewelry selling experience and so far its been pretty good. I have not sold anything yet but I have had some people click the like button for some of my items and have received a decent amount of views for my stuff. I realize that everyone is not going to like all the things I make so the way I figure as long as people care enough to even view my jewelry I must be doing well.
A couple days ago I made another multi strand bracelet. It is made from red beads I found at the thrift store. Basically I strung these beads onto strands of fishing line which I then connected to a single clasp. The whole effect is that it looks as tough who ever is wearing it seems to have two bracelets on but actually they are only wearing one. Its pretty cute and I will be putting it on my etsy shop whenever I get around to putting up that necklace I made a week ago.

New Necklace

Just recentally I made a new necklace design. It consists of a pendant made by connecting some drop pieces (don't know the technical term) to a chain and a gold chain. The drop pieces are mad from some small red and tube purple beads that I got off of a necklace at the thrift store. I really like the necklace and I will be putting it in my etsy shop later.

Fun Summer Craft: Scarf Flip-Flops

After a trip to the thrift store yesterday where treasures (including beads!) abounded, Emily and I were inspired by a few old silk scarves and flip flops to make a pair of fun summer flip flops!
Unfortunately we didn't think to take before and step-by-step pictures, but here are the finished results.  At around 2.50 each to make, they're a steal.  The sandals only took about 30 minutes to make (most of that time involved us trying to figure out how to make them!) and the results will last easily through the summer months.  Plus, they're just so cute!

Emily's used gray flip flops and a shiny metallic scarf.  She chose to wrap hers loosely.

I wrapped mine tighter and used a highly patterned green, blue, and brown scarf.  Big blue buttons to finish them off!

If you want to make some pretty summer sandals of your own, check out the following tutorials we've found for a variety of styles and materials!

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!

Ariel here: Hooray for the first day of blogging!  This idea has been a few weeks in the making, so I'm glad to see mine and Emily's efforts finally coming to fruition.  I'll just echo everything she's said so far and add my two cents.  About the name AENeverForget: Emily loves elephants, so we decided to start with a play off the phrase "An Elephant Never Forgets", dropping the AE to stand for both the beginning of that phrase and for our initials, Ariel and Emily.  Never Forget is also a good way to think about the jewelry we make--we make a lot of pieces from old jewelry found in thrift/vintage stores and give them a new, modern life.  In that way, the jewelry never gets forgotten!  Emily thinks this is pretty corny (and maybe it is), but for now it's what we're going with.

We're going to be posting a lot of new items at the etsy store in the next week or so, and also many changes will be coming to this site as well.  In terms of what you can expect--posts linking to cool craft ideas or to new designs we've made, style inspiration pieces, short little posts about things happening in our lives, etc.

Oh, and whil you're at it, take a minute to check out our super crafty Mom's blog, North Hills Quilter.  Pretty neat stuff!

Welcome to AENeverForget

I decided to start this blog to talk about all the jewlery I make and all of my beading escapdes. I started beading as a hobby after my mom gifted me some beads and tools for Christmas. Trust me at first it was alot of trial and error with many of my projects falling apart on me or just not going together in the first place. However after months of practice I was finnaly able to make cool pieces I would wear myself. A bunch of my friends started telling me to sell my stuff but I was never sure. After my sister came for a summer visit though we decided to open up an etsy shop for my work. Soon she started to make some jewlery too. We just recentally posted some pieces on our etsy shop. I decided to save all the money I make off anything I sell for college. Maybe I can take off about twenty dollars from my college bill!
This is my first blog post ever so hopefully I am doing okay. If anyone who reads this could spare a few minutes to take a look at my etsy site it might give me that all important boost of confidance. Also I would like to apologize in advance for any misspelled words because that has never been my strongest area.
